The Whites have been paired together with Longridge Town at the first stage of the competition after missing out on a bye through to the preliminary round after a 17th-placed finish in the Northern Premier League West last season.

The two sides met at the same stage of the competition three years ago, with Longridge causing an upset with a 3-2 win on that occasion.

The tie will be played on Saturday 5 August, and the winners have been handed a home tie against Golcar United or Trafford in the preliminary round on Saturday 19 August.

Widnes bowed out at the preliminary round stage last season, losing 2-0 away at Bury.

The winners of the cup tie will receive £1,125 while the losers will receive £375.
