Walk to raise funds for new equipment and warm weather training kit

Players, coaches and parents from Widnes Football Club are to kick-off the 2019/20 season in style by reaching the summit of Mount Snowdon with a sponsored walk.

Led by Marc Newton and the Under-13s Wyverns team, players and parents are invited to join in the fun, challenge themselves and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Snowdon, raising funds to purchase new equipment and warm weather training kit.

The team have set themselves a £1,000 fundraising target on JustGiving for the sponsored walk scheduled for 7.30am on Sunday 1st September.

Taking the Llanberis Path, which is the longest and most gradual of the six main paths to the summit of Snowdon, the team will be treated to fantastic views of Cwm Brwynog, Llanberis and over the Menai straights towards Anglesey.

The path mainly follows the Snowdon Mountain Railway track, and goes by Hebron, Halfway and Clogwyn stations. Before the railway was opened in 1896, visitors employed guides to lead them to the summit along this path on mule-back.
