Co-boss frustrated as Widnes fall at home to Tadcaster Albion

Kev Towey cut an extremely frustrated figure after Widnes slipped to their fourth defeat in five games, losing 1-0 at home to Tadcaster Albion.

Jake Day's 33rd minute goal separated the two sides, with the Whites once again failing to hit the back of the net for the sixth time this season, and in four of their previous five fixtures.

Speaking after the game, Towey admitted that the game as a contest summed up Widnes' recent run of form.

"A mistake has cost us the goal, which is becoming a recurring theme," Towey said.

"We then lacked any sort of cutting edge in the final third to get us back into the game.

"If we'd have scored, I think we'd have got out of jail. I don't think that we deserved to lose on the balance of play, but again the goal was of our own doing.

"It's totally not good enough in front of goal. I think we've now not scored in over half of our games this season, and there's no dressing that up.

"We have a friendly on Tuesday which allows us to have a look at a few things, and we are looking at bring one or two in, but I can't dress it up, it's blatantly obvious for everyone to see."
