All you need to know ahead of Widnes' NPL D1NW clash with Tadcaster

Widnes will go in search of their first win in four games against Tadcaster Albion today.

The Whites stopped the rot on Tuesday night with a come-from-behind draw at Mossley, but Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey’s side had lost three successive matches without scoring prior to the trip to Seel Park.

After a promising start to the season, Widnes have stuttered and fallen down the table, but they’ll be targeting a return to form in only their second home league game of the season.

In fact, the Whites have only played in front of home support three times this season.

Opponents Tadcaster have started the season strongly and sit third in the Northern Premier League Division One North/West with 16 points from seven games.

Managed by former Sheffield United and Birmingham City midfielder Curtis Woodhouse, Taddy have four games in-hand on league leaders Workington, and travel to the Halton Stadium unbeaten in their previous five.

Woodhouse’s men drew with City of Liverpool in midweek in FA Trophy action, with Jake Day equalising to earn Tadcaster a replay.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Widnes travelled to Mossley with a squad hit by illness, and co-bosses Towey and Akrigg are hopeful on the fitness of a number of first team players.

Fisnik Hajdari is available again after recovering from an injury picked up in a loss to Workington last month, while Danny Shaw and Shaun Holden could both return after missing the draw at Seel Park.

Josh Klein-Davies is a doubt with a hip problem, but Danny Ventre is available despite seeing red in midweek.
