All you need to know ahead of Widnes' FA Cup replay at Mossley

The games continue to come thick and fast for Widnes tonight as the Whites head to Mossley for their Emirates FA Cup preliminary round replay, kick-off 7:45pm.

Facing the Lilywhites for the second time in less than two weeks, a victor has to be decided tonight with the winners set for a first qualifying round tie at home to Whitby Town on Saturday.

Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey's side had to claw themselves back from two goals down to earn a replay at the Halton Stadium 10 days ago with second half goals from Ben Hodkinson and Josh Klein-Davies.

Since then, Widnes have played out successive away draws at Kendal Town and Marske United with Klein-Davies on the scoresheet again as he netted the equaliser in the North East last time out.

Mossley on the other hand, come into tonight's cup-tie off the back of a 5-0 home win over Kendal that has lifted Dave Wild's side to sixth in the Northern Premier League Division One North/West after four games.

Former Liverpool striker Adam Morgan netted a hat-trick, and the Lilywhites will be pleased with their response after a 2-1 loss at Droylsden on Bank Holiday Monday.

Widnes will be without Jay Roberts who is unavailable, but Danny Ventre is set to return and could again deputise at right-back.

Elsewhere, the Whites have no fresh injury concerns with Sam Heathcote, Jake Phillips and Mike Burke still ruled out, although the latter is nearing a return.

Victory for Akrigg and Towey's men would see Widnes make history by reaching the first qualifying round for the first time ever with the Whites are still awaiting a first FA Cup win.

The tie must be settled on the night. Should the match be level after 90 minutes, then extra times and potentially penalties will follow.

The winners will pocket £2,890 and set a date with Whitby on Saturday.
