All you need to know ahead of Widnes' trip to Marske

Widnes travel to North Yorkshire on Saturday to take on Carl Jarrett's Marske United in the BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One North/West.

The Whites make the long journey north after a solid yet unspectacular start to the new season with four points from three games that leaves Widnes in eighth.

But co-bosses Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey will perhaps be disappointed that Widnes only have four points on the board after surrendering a 2-0 lead at Ramsbottom United on the opening day, and playing out a goalless draw at Kendal Town last time out.

They end August with a tough trip to Marske who are one of only three sides in the division with a 100% record to start the season.

Jarrett's men, FA Vase semi-finalists and Northern League Champions in 2018, have beaten City of Liverpool, Brighouse Town and Dunston thus far, coincidentally all by one-goal margins.

A stoppage time Andrew May winner secured the points against the latter side on Bank Holiday Monday, and the Seasiders will be looking to end August with four wins from four.

However, Widnes are boosted by a virtually fully fit squad with no new absentees. Sam Heathcote and Jake Phillips remain long-term injury concerns, while Mike Burke is still a couple of weeks away from a return.

Chris Lomax has signed for Burscough on a dual-registration deal but Jay Roberts is available again and likely to return at right-back.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
