All you need to know ahead of Widnes’ pre-season friendly in Douglas

Widnes FC continue their preparations for the upcoming Northern Premier League season, facing an Isle of Man FA XI at The Bowl, kick-off 3.00pm.

The Whites arrived in Douglas this morning for a pre-season friendly as preparations continue for the upcoming Northern Premier League season.

Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey will be keen to step things up a level after watching their side play out a goalless draw against Rylands on Tuesday night.

Keen to fine tune preparations ahead of the league opener against Ramsbottom United in four weeks time, the management duo will use the time away to build a greater bond between the players while integrating the new signings into the squad.

Sean Myler and Chris Lomax have both travelled and could feature for the first time this pre-season campaign.

New signings Josh Klein-Davies, Lewis Buckley, Danny Shaw and James Steele have also travelled, alongside Fidan Hajdari who made his debut in Tuesday’s draw at JMO Sports Park.

Saturday’s fixture provides a first outing of the summer for the Isle of Man FA XI.

Paul Jones’ side have a friendly scheduled against Welsh second-tier side Flint Town to come as preparations continue for late September’s FA Inter-League Cup first round tie with the Cheshire League.

Matchday Information

Admission is priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions, with pay on the gate at The Bowl.

Supporters will be able to follow the action across the club’s usual official social media channels, while a match report and post-match reaction will be available after the full-time whistle.
