Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey's side get their pre-season preparations underway this Friday (12th July) with the visit of Southport for the second successive season.

Kick-off at the Halton Stadium is at 7.45pm for a fixture that is seemingly becoming the Whites' traditional pre-season curtain raiser.

Liam Watson's Sandgrounders finished 14th in the National League North last season, but they did enjoy success in the county cup competitions, recording a Lancashire and Liverpool Senior Cup double.

Warrington Town provide the opposition in Widnes' second home pre-season friendly on Friday 26th July. Kick-off at the Halton Stadium is at 7.45pm.

Paul Carden's team will be tipped for promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division this season after the Yellows suffered an agonising super play-off final defeat against King's Lynn in May, as the latter won promotion to the National League North.

Admission for all supporters is by paying on the gate, priced at £4 adults, £2 concessions while all accompanied Under 16s go free.
