Widnes Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of talented youngster Lucas Schofield.

The 17-year-old midfielder joins after leaving FC Halifax Town earlier in the summer and Lucas' signature represents a real coup for the club.

Schofield was named as a substitute at just 16 for Halifax in a National League game against Wealdstone at The Shay in October 2020.

He was part of the Halifax Youth squad that won the National League Alliance Under-19 cup final last season.

"I'm made up to welcome Lucas onboard," Dempsey said.

"He's generated plenty of interest from elsewhere after leaving Halifax and we're delighted to have beaten a lot of clubs to his signature.

"Lucas will be a great addition to our midfield and he will add a lot of technical ability and prowess to the squad.

"I can already see he has a big future in the game with some real pedigree, and with just a little bit of guidance in the right areas, I know he can progress himself and help us kick on."
