24-year-old returns to the club for a second spell

Widnes Football Club is thrilled to have completed the signing of striker Tom Croughan.

The 24-year-old returns to the DCBL Stadium for a second spell almost six years after his departure.

Croughan first arrived as youngster during Widnes’ hugely successful 2017-18 season, going on to play a part as the Whites earned promotion to the Northern Premier League as well as winning the Macron Cup.

Tom came through the youth system at Tranmere Rovers and made his senior debut in the National League.

He left Widnes for Warrington Rylands in 2018, scoring 14 goals as Dave McNabb’s side won the North West Counties First Division that season.

Croughan moved on to Skelmersdale United in 2019, making 81 appearances and scoring 15 goals, featuring in Skem’s run to the first round proper of the FA Cup in 2020 and promotion to the Northern Premier League in 2022.

He has since featured for both City of Liverpool and Ramsbottom United in the NPL West, and has spent this season captaining AFC Liverpool in the NWC Premier Division, scoring 13 goals in 33 games.

Welcome back, Tom!
