Hellawell earned rave reviews with Widnes last season, and was set to extend his loan spell but a knee injury that needed an operation ultimately ended the teenager's season and he returned to his parent club.

Rhain was released by the Blues in the summer and signed for FC United of Manchester ahead of the new campaign, but the youngster has been limited to just five substitute appearances at Broadhurst Park.

Co-boss Kev Towey said: "I said after Saturday that we couldn't hide from the fact that we've failed to create and take chances in a few games this season.

"Rhain will give us another option in the final third, and after his short spell here last season, we already know what we can potentially get out of him."

Hellawell is poised to make his second debut in Widnes' Northern Premier League clash at home to Pontefract Collieries on Saturday 19th October.
