Defender becomes Widnes' eighth summer signing

Widnes Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Keenan Quansah.

The 22-year-old arrives after a stint at Glossop North End to end last term, signing terms at the Halton Stadium ahead of the 2019/20 Northern Premier League Division One North/West season.

Quansah appeared in last week's pre-season defeat at Buxton as a trialist, impressing co-bosses Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey enough to earn a deal despite scoring an own goal.

Warrington-based Keenan spent time with Liverpool, Crewe Alexandra and Bolton Wanderers as a schoolboy before signing professional terms with Accrington Stanley as a teenager.

He would go on to join then-NPL side Burscough, before sealing a move to Mossley in January 2017, going on to make 73 appearances across two spells for the Lilywhites.

Quansah was named Mossleyweb Player of the Year prior to signing for Hyde United in the summer of 2018, before returning to Seel Park later that year.

Keenan joined Glossop North End in November 2018, making 22 appearances before departing in the summer.

He arrives at Widnes after a spell with Runcorn Linnets earlier in pre-season, and can also play as a defensive midfielder.
