Midfielder departs ahead of new season

Sean Myler has left the club to sign for Northern Premier League Division One North/West rivals Prescot Cables.

Myler, 26, has agreed to make the short move to Prescot after the Knowsley-based outfit submitted a seven-day approach notice.

The midfielder made 57 appearances for the Whites after joining for Marine in August 2017, making his debut in Widnes’ first-ever North West Counties Premier Division game at West Didsbury & Chorlton.

A local lad, Myler became a real fans’ favourite at his hometown club as Widnes would seal promotion from the North West Counties top-flight later that season, alongside triumph in the Macron Cup final.

Although ruled out through injury, Myler and Widnes won the North West Counties Champions Cup in July 2018, and the midfielder would go on to make 19 appearances for his hometown club in the Whites’ first-ever term in the Northern Premier League.

Everyone at Widnes Football Club would like to wish Sean well in his future career and thank him for his efforts in a Widnes shirt.
