Recapping all the action from the weekend's junior fixtures

The Under-7s Whites earned Derby Day bragging rights with a 3-1 win over Widnes Dragons in the highlight of the weekend's action.

After an unfortunate deflection gave the Dragons the lead, Widnes hit back with a penalty from Jacob and second-half goals from Man of the Match Riley and Nathan.

The Under-8s Whites earned a narrow 1-0 win over Birchwood Rangers with Man of the Match Lewis Conville netting a late winner.

After a well-contested first half, Widnes made a slight tactical adjustment that reaped its rewards, as Lewis provided the crucial touch to open the scoring which was preserved by an impressive rearguard performance.

In competitive action, the Under-12s Rockets (pictured above) picked up a valuable point away at Golbourne Sports Giants to maintain their push at the top of the table.

After falling behind in the second half, Widnes hit back with Jamie putting away the rebound after Luke had a shot saved from a corner.

The Rockets could have won it late on, but the Golbourne keeper produced a magnificent save to deny Mason from the spot.

The Under-13s Whites fell to a 5-1 defeat at unbeaten Haydock Vale, who lead 2-0 inside the opening 10 minutes.

The Whites dug deep however, with Sam Fitzsimon halving the deficit after a fantastic cross from Olivia Dancaster.

Vale would add three more goals in the first half despite a commendable performance from goalkeeper Jake Berry, and Widnes would hold firm in the second period despite a dogged second half display, with Owen Edmondson (pictured above with Olivia Dancaster) earning the coach's Man of the Match award.

The Under-12s Wyverns (pictured) moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 4-1 win over Earlestown Athletic Thistle.

The Wyverns were brimming with confidence and they soon took the lead through Joey Blackwood.

Into the second half, Widnes took control despite conceding an early equaliser. Blackwood hit a 25-yard screamer to notch his second, with Jake Rosenberg firing home a third minutes later.

Alex Glover added a fourth, curling home a well-taken effort from distance as Ethan Pullen and Blackwood earned the Man of the Match awards.
