Paul Jones has stepped down from his position after a successful three-year spell with the club

Paul Jones has left his position as First Team Coach at Widnes FC.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paul for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.

Paul joined the club as First Team Coach under Joey Dunn in October 2016 as Widnes would go on to win the North West Counties Division One title later that season.

He would retain his position under co-managers Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey after Dunn’s resignation in September 2017, with Widnes achieving a second successive promotion that season alongside a Macron Cup final win over Burscough.

In a series of tweets posted on his Twitter account, Paul said, “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work at Widnes.

“The club is in great hands with Kev and Ste so it just feels like the right time. The club is in a good place and I genuinely wish everyone all the success in the world.

“They are all good people who deserve it and I’m pretty sure the club can achieve great things.”

Paul’s departure comes after fellow First Team Coach Andy Burgess left his position after being appointed Head of Recruitment at Mansfield Town.
