Widnes Football Club can confirm the departure of Jay Roberts.

The 28-year-old has completed a return to Bootle after 173 appearances across two spells in a Widnes shirt.

Roberts initially joined Widnes in March 2017 from Litherland REMYCA ahead of the transfer deadline and quickly endeared himself to the home faithful as Joey Dunn’s side stormed to the NWCFL Division One title.

He left for the Bucks in September 2021 but returned to Widnes in November 2022, becoming a virtual ever-present under Michael Ellison as the Whites secured safety from relegation in the Northern Premier League West.
