Striker leaves as Widnes' second all-time leading goalscorer

Striker George Lomax has completed a permanent move to North West Counties Premier Division side Rylands.

Lomax, who turned 23 in April, has joined the Gorsey Lane outfit after a near three-year spell with Widnes.

The striker joined the Whites alongside brother Chris in September 2016, moving from St Helens Town, and went on to make 103 appearances for the club, scoring 43 goals.

He would go on to score 26 goals in 38 games that season, developing a fruitful partnership with Kev Towey as Widnes were crowned North West Counties Division One Champions.

Despite briefly leaving the club the following season for spells at AFC Liverpool and Marine, Lomax would return in January 2018, scoring seven goals in 23 games as Widnes secured a second successive promotion before ending their stay in the North West Counties League as Macron Cup winners.

George played 27 games for Widnes last season, scoring six goals.

Widnes Football Club would like to thank George for his efforts during his time at the club and wish him well in the future.
