Widnes Football Club are delighted to announce the signings of Anointed Chukwu and James Murray.

Chukwu, 18, arrives on loan from Salford City until January having spent the early part of the season on loan at BetVictor Northern Premier League rivals Ramsbottom United.

The teenager (pictured below) featured against Widnes on the opening day of the season as a stoppage time substitute, and went on to make seven appearances during a short stint with the Rams.

A forward by trade, Chukwu signed for Salford in the summer of 2017 having previously spent time on trial at both Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

Murray, 25, joins from Witton Albion having made 10 appearances under Carl Macauley following a summer move from Marine.

A left-sided attacking midfielder, Murray (pictured) signed for the Mariners in the summer of 2017, going on to make 88 appearances at the Marine Travel Arena before departing following relegation and the expiry of his contract in May.

The 25-year-old, who also lists West Cheshire League side Newton amongst his former clubs, links up with former Marine teammates Michael Grogan and Danny Shaw at the Halton Stadium.

Co-boss Kev Towey said: "We've been lacking in the final third as of late and we felt that new additions were needed.

"Some of the lads are going to miss out as a consequence but that's not saying it's the end for any of the current crop.

"Players have to understand that if they are not producing, then questions will be asked. We need to start winning football matches."
