Widnes Football Club can confirm that Allan Glover has joined the first team coaching staff on a temporary basis.
Glover is a close friend of Kev Towey's and has linked up with the Whites while co-boss Steve Akrigg recovers from a knee operation.
Allan served as first team coach under Simon Burton at Runcorn Town earlier this decade, and managed Barnton under current Widnes chairman Ian Ross for a short stint in the 2014-15 season.
He has been in the dugout for Widnes' previous two league games against City of Liverpool and Runcorn Linnets, with joint-manager Towey providing an update on Glover's position.
Towey said: "We lost Andy Burgess and Paul Jones in the summer, but that was sort of negated by myself taking on more of a hands-on role with not playing as much.
"Ste has just had a knee operation and his availability for training is limited for the next few weeks. He can stand and give instructions but he can't do anything physical.
"Al has give us a little bit extra during this period and he's more than welcome to carry on after that but it's not something we've spoke about."
