Friday Night Football produced a 7 goal thriller at Select Security Stadium as Vikings FC came out on top in the latest NWCFL Division 1 match.

Starting his first game for Vikings FC was striker Connor McCarthy, it wasn't long before he made his first impact at the club. Within 3 minutes of the match starting the ball was in the back of the net from McCarthy after a great cross by James Thomas was met first by a header and from the rebound McCarthy hammered home his first of the night.

Not long after it was 2-0 and McCarthy again the scorer, this time Alex Davies getting the better of his opposition number down the right wing to deliver a cross which had the Oldham Boro defence scrambling and McCarthy was on hand to finish the move.

He wasn't giving up just yet and the best goal of the evening to seal his hat-trick was to come after just 10mins on the clock. Receiving the ball about 35 yards out, he turned the defender with ease and blasted the ball into the top corner giving himself a hat-trick and Vikings FC a 3-0 lead. This also set a new club record for being the fastest hat-trick scored by a senior team player at Vikings FC, plus this was also Connor McCarthy's debut!

After the quick start Vikings FC always looked comfortable and played out the remaining 35mins to go in at half time 3-0 up.

With job done in the first half, manager Ste Hill replaced Connor McCarthy with young striker Will Myers at the break.

For the first 15mins of the second half it was comfortable once more until Oldham Boro found a goal back on 63mins which sparked them into life. Only 10minutes later they got another goal making it 3-2 and suddenly it didn't look so comfortable anymore. Oldham Boro could and should have produced the comeback as the visitors pressed and missed a glorious opportunity with an open goal to draw the game level, to the Vikings FC delight the ball was sent wide of the post by a matter of inches.

From this Vikings FC began to play again and as James Thomas found himself running at the defence and a great piece of skill to put the ball through the Oldham players legs he was brought down in the area and the perfect opportunity to restore a 2 goal cushion for Vikings FC.

James Thomas calmly scored the penalty and with Vikings FC 4-2 up it was almost game over when Will Myers broke free in injury time to complete the scoring giving Vikings FC a resounding 5-2 win.

The win extends Vikings FC unbeaten run to 4 games heading into next Saturday's Home match (November 2nd) against Leek CSOB at the Halton Stadium.
