All you need to know ahead of Widnes' Integro Cup tie at Witton Albion

Widnes travel to Evo-Stik Premier Division side Witton Albion tonight looking to produce an upset in the first round of the Integro Cup.

The Whites will be entering the Northern Premier League's Challenge Cup for the first time having won promotion from the North West Counties League in May.

Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey's side won the North West Counties League Cup last season, beating Burscough 2-1 win in the final, and the Whites will be looking for similar success in the Integro Cup this time around.

Widnes come into the game off the back of a comfortable 2-0 win over Glossop North End on Saturday, with Jamie Rainford and Michael Grogan netting the goals.

Opponents Witton sit 15th in the Premier Division, with nine points from their opening eight games. Carl Macauley's men played out a 0-0 draw with Gainsborough Trinity last time out.

Witton reached the third round stage of this competition last season before losing out to Mickleover Sports on penalties.

Team News

Widnes are without the suspended foursome of Jay Roberts, Michael Grogan, Danny Ventre and Kev Pollard who were all sent off in the loss at home to Kidsgrove eight days ago.

They are boosted however by the return of Sean Myler, who is fit again after a long-term knee injury.

Former Widnes man River Humphreys is now on the books at Witton, putting in a Man of the Match performance in the draw at home to Gainsborough on Saturday.
