All you need to know ahead of Widnes' Evo-Stik League clash with Droylsden

Widnes will go in search of only a fourth home league win of the season on Saturday as Droylsden visit the Offside Trust Stadium in Evo-Stik League action.

The Whites' frustrating wait for a return to the Halton Stadium goes on with the Bloods make the trip over to Widnes' temporary home at Barnton.

Kev Towey and Steve Akrigg's side have struggled for form at home this season, having only picked up 12 points from a possible 33 at their temporary home.

The Whites sit 11th in the Division One West, and come into the fixture off the back of a 2-2 home draw against Colwyn Bay last time out, in which George Lomax netted a 88th minute equaliser.

Opponents Droylsden will be looking for a response after a 1-0 defeat at Chasetown last time out, although Dave Pace's men had been ahead against Glossop North End before the match was abandoned due to floodlight failure last Saturday.

The Bloods will be buoyed having already beaten Widnes twice this season, including a 6-2 league thumping of the Whites back in October.

Team News

Defender Joe Herbert faces a late fitness test after limping out of the draw at home to Colwyn Bay due to injury at half-time.

A potential Herbert absence may open the door for a return to the side for Mike Burke, who completed the full 90 minutes of Runcorn Town's defeat at Litherland REMYCA last week in his first piece of action since recovering from a long-term hamstring injury.

Elsewhere, Widnes have no fresh injury concerns with Phil Doran (knee) and Jack Graham (knee) remaining long-term absentees, although Conor Ready and Michael Grogan are nearing comebacks.

Widnes: D W L L W
Droylsden: L L W W L

One to Watch

Towering frontman Sefton Gonzales has netted 13 goals this term for Droylsden, and has already impressed against Widnes this season.

Gonzales netted twice in the 6-2 win back in October, bagging himself a couple of assists along the way.

The former Stockport County man has twice been named as the Bloods' Player of the Month this season.
