The Whites earned a hard-fought point at high-flying Trafford last time out, with George Webster netting nine minutes from time to cancel out Ross Davidson's opener.

Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey's men will be considered favourites against a Chasetown side without a win in their previous seven games in all competitions - a 2-1 win over Lincoln United in the FA Trophy last month.

Scott Dundas' side sit 18th in the Evo-Stik Division One West with only one win in their opening 14 league games which came at Droylsden in September.

The Scholars will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Glossop North End, in which the Hillmen scored twice in the final eight minutes to rescue a point.

Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Michael Grogan is available again for Widnes after missing the draw at Trafford although co-bosses Towey and Akrigg could name an unchanged side for the visit of the Scholars.
