All you need to know ahead of Widnes' trip to Colne

Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey will take charge of their 50th game as Widnes joint managers away at Colne on Saturday.

Widnes picked up their first win of the Evo-Stik League Division One West season on Bank Holiday Monday, comfortably beating Market Drayton Town 3-0.

Towey opened the scoring for Widnes, with further strikes from Ben Hodkinson and Mike Burke sealing a first win in five for the Whites.

Opponents Colne have started their third season at Step 4 with a 100% record, picking up nine points from their opening three games.

Steve Cunningham's side have beaten Newcastle Town, Ramsbottom United and Glossop North End thus far, as well as booking their place in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win at Pickering Town.

Last time out, goals from Bradley Lynch, Reece Webb-Foster, Marcus Poscha and Alex Curran saw the Reds run out 4-1 winners at Glossop, with Tyrell McKenzie grabbing a consolation for the well-beaten hosts.

Kev Towey said...

"I'm just really pleased the people stood up on Monday. It would have been really easy after not winning four games for the lads to feel sorry for themselves but everyone stood up for themselves and I'm really happy with that."

Team News

Sam Sheen begins a three-game ban after seeing red at Mossley last week but Widnes are boosted by the return of Michael Grogan from suspension.
