Widnes' pre-season campaign continues with a trip to Ashton Town on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

Tuesday's 4-0 win over FC BRNESC saw Widnes pick up their first victory of pre-season, bouncing back from the home reverse to Southport last week.

Strikers Jamie Rainford, George Lomax and Ben Hodkinson all got off the mark in Tuesday's victory, with Bradley Williams notching a fourth 15 minutes from time.

All 14 outfield players involved played at least 60 minutes, with preparations for the Evo-Stik League season continuing away at the North West Counties League newboys.

While co-managers Kev Towey and Steve Akrigg won't be involved, Chris Lomax and Jay Roberts are both expected to feature for the first time in pre-season.

Ashton secured promotion from the Cheshire League last season to clinch an immediate return to the Hallmark Security League Division One North after a one-year absence.

Town, managed by David Dempsey, have added former Widnes players Brad Smart and James Ludgate to their ranks ahead of their league opener away at Avro on August 4th.
