Steve Akrigg and Kev Towey's men were handed a trip to Brocstedes Park in Wednesday evening's draw, one of three all-Hallmark Security League Premier Division ties in the competition's last eight.

Widnes reached this stage of the competition with a 2-1 win over AFC Darwen on Monday night having already dispatched Carlisle City in the second round.

The Yellows advanced to this stage of the competition after putting six past both Daisy Hill and Bacup Borough in the first and second rounds respectively before beating AFC Liverpool 4-1 in the last 16.

Widnes have never progressed beyond the last eight in this competition while Ashton were winners in 2014, beating Maine Road 1-0 at Curzon Ashton's Tameside Stadium.

The quarter-final meeting between the two sides has been arranged for Monday 26th March. Kick-off 7.45pm.
