After a fairly even first half which ended goalless, Vikings FC came out in the second half full of confidence.
Shortly before half time Will Myers had a goal disallowed for offside, which looked dubious at best. However this gave Vikings FC the confidence and determination they needed to go on and win the game.
Vikings FC started the second half much quicker and within 2mins of the restart took the lead through Luke Forsyth. It wasn't long before a second goal was added through Daniel Garvey from a dangerous freekick into the penalty area, Garvey found space to head the ball into the top corner.
With the scoreline 2-0 and the Vikings FC looking confident it would only take one goal for Formby to be right back in this contest. With that said the constant pressure from the home side paid off with Jamie Henders smashing the ball into the back of the net, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Formby continued to press for an equaliser throughout the second half and in the end it was left for Vikings FC to defend their deserved lead and take the three points.
A fantastic win and confidence boost for the whole team, a performance manager Steve Hill was very proud of and now will be looking to take into Saturday's home game against Rochdale Town.
