On a perfect afternoon for football the Vikings FC traveled to Northwich Flixton Villa in our first away game of the season.
After the first two matches played at the Select Security Stadium which resulted in a defeat and an entertaining 3-3 draw, the elusive first win of the season was the task of the day against a side which had lost both their opening games to high scores.
Vikings FC manager Ste Hill knew this wasn't going to be an easy game and concentration was the key to claiming the 3 points.
Vikings FC started the game on top and an early goal came after just 16 mins with Luke Forsyth finishing off a fantastic pass from Jon McMenemy.
With continued and constant pressure on the Northwich goal it was only the one goal that gave the Vikings FC a 1-0 lead at Half Time.
In the second half the game saw 5 goals as the pressure finally came off with 4 goals for the black and whites and a consolation goal for the home team.
First it was Ronnie McCarthy who made it 2-0 and shortly after it was 3-0 with William Myers completing a cheeky back heel finish which saw him score his first ever goal at NWCFL level.
William Myers was once again in the action to help further the scoreline as another fantastic long range pass put Will clear and as he was about to cut inside the defender handled the ball leaving the referee little option but to give a penalty which Ronnie McCarthy finished emphatically into the top corner.
The scoreline reading 4-0 to the Vikings FC it wasn't finished here as the 5th goal came courtesy of a horrendous mistake from the home defender sending the ball into his own net, 5-0 to Vikings FC.
Just as the game kicked off once again it was the Vikings FC defenders turn to make a bad mistake, this time Jon McMenemy slipped when about to challenge for the ball leaving the Northwich striker only Luke Picken in the Vikings FC goal to score on a rare attack from the home side in which he rounded off the afternoons scoring.
