Widnes FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Prestayn Town in their final pre-season game before the big kick-off next Saturday.
Widnes took the lead on the 20-minute mark as Jamie Rainford netted his fifth goal of pre-season, converting with a well-taken finish at the back-post.
The visitors were in the ascendancy at the break, but Prestatyn equalised inside the opening minute of the second half. A loose ball sat up nicely for Dan Roberts, who hit a ferocious drive from long-range that nestled in the bottom corner.
Chris Lomax restored Widnes’ advantage after the hour-mark, curling a bending effort beyond the outstretched gloves of Ryan Woods and into the far corner.
Prestatyn netted a second equaliser 10 minutes from time for a share of the spoils, as Aaron White turned home from close-range after combining well with teammate Ben Cawley.
Widnes are in FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round action on Saturday, hosting Northwich Victoria.
