Derek Roylance Challenge Cup gets underway on Saturday

Widnes Football Club's Development Squad will participate in the 2017 Widnes Cup - the first time that the Club have competed in the prestigious local competition.

The Development Squad were initially on a standby list but will now participate in the competition after Wellington FC withdrew.

We have been drawn in Group 2 alongside St Michaels, Parklands and Halebank.

The other teams competing in the competition are Moorfield, Avon Athletic, Halton Borough and Cronton Villa.

The Development Squad, led by Nick Matthews, will play all their fixtures away from home.

The Club are delighted to be in the prestigious competition for the very first time in what will be a very unique challenge for the Club's youngsters.

The Development Squad's full fixture list follows below.

Saturday 22nd July: Halebank v Widnes (to be played at Halebank) 3pm.
Saturday 29th July: St Michaels v Widnes (to be played at St Michaels) 3pm.
Saturday 5th August: Parklands v Widnes (to be played at Halton Borough) 3pm.
Tuesday 15th August: Semi-Final 1 (to be played at a neutral venue) 6.30pm.
Wednesday 16th August: Semi-Final 2 (to be played at a neutral venue) 6.30pm.
Friday 25th August: Grand Final (Select Security Stadium) 6.30pm.
