Widnes Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of talented goalkeeper Owen Wheeler.
Manager Joey Dunn was naturally thrilled to secure the capture of Wheeler.
"Owen is a talented keeper who has now joined us, with his last club being Liverpool at the Academy," Dunn said.
"He is a student at the Liverpool FC Foundation International College and is looking for a way back into the pro game.
"He is somebody who will give us better presence in the Goalkeeping position, an area which I think we have needed to improve, and at 6 feet 3 inches, and still growing he has the attributes physically to become a real prospect for us at Widnes.
"Thanks must go to David Rowe and his staff at the college for helping us in recruiting Owen, and it is a partnership that we will be looking to strengthen further in the future.
"I'm sure everyone at the club will make Owen really welcome as he becomes a valuable part of the squad."
Wheeler - pictured training with Luis Suarez, Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly - spoke of his delight at signing for the Club and highlighted the talent already within the squad.
"The club has a great set up with high ambitions for the future, Wheeler said.
"The facilities are excellent and having trained with the lads last night, I can see that the players already at the club are a really talented group who all work hard for each other.
"After speaking to Joey, I knew that this is where I wanted to be."
Owen goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's game at home to FC Oswestry Town, which will be played at Barnton's Hinchcliffe Holmes Stadium.
