Widnes crowned Macron Cup Champions

Widnes FC have won the Macron Cup after a 2-1 win over Burscough at Fleetwood Town's Highbury Stadium.

Goals from Ben Hodkinson and Sam Sheen overturned a narrow 1-0 deficit after Jamie Clark opened the scoring for Burscough early in the first half.

The victory provided a perfect swansong for Widnes, who now depart the Hallmark Security League for the Evo-Stik League as promotion/cup double winners!
