All the details you need about the opening of the Mersey Gateway bridge

The new Mersey Gateway is set to open on Saturday, bringing with it a new look road system across Widnes that will come into operation.

The Silver Jubilee bridge will close for a major overhaul and essential repairs as the Mersey Gateway opens.

Once the bridge opens, tolls will be enforced immediately. Dedicated cameras and sensors will read vehicle number plates and special Merseyflow stickers to charge drivers.

We advise supporters that anyone who doesn't pay by 11.59pm the day after they cross will receive a penalty charge notice.

Drivers will be charged £2 each time they cross the Mersey Gateway (£4 return).

Eligible Halton residents can cross free once they pay a £10 annual registration fee.

Anyone, wherever they live, can also register for a pre-pay account or monthly pass which both give discounts on the full unregistered toll fee.

To register visit merseyflow.co.uk or call 01928878878.

We advise travelling supporters and supporters from 1874 Northwich to be aware of the tolls and route changes ahead of Saturday's Hallmark Security League Premier Division fixture.
