Widnes FC will be looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat at West Didsbury & Chorlton at the earliest opportunity when they travel to Abbey Hey on Wednesday evening.
Joey Dunn's side were beaten 3-1 by West on Saturday afternoon in their first-ever Hallmark Security League Premier Division fixture, despite the hosts being reduced to 10-men early in the second half.
An Anthony Potts own goal proved to be little more than a consolation for Widnes, who found themselves 3-0 down at half-time as Nic Evangelinos struck twice with Tom Bailey grabbing a third.
Opponents Abbey Hey were also beaten on the opening day of the season as Runcorn Linnets ran out 4-0 winners at The Abbey Stadium.
Luke Gibson's side do however have a competitive victory under their belt thus far this season as Abbey picked up a 2-1 victory at Irlam in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.
Abbey Hey were comfortably a mid-table side last season, finishing 14th in the Premier Division. This time around, Gibson's men will be looking to push on and perhaps record a top-half finish.
Wednesday evening's game marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
