Jason Skarratts is appointed as the Club's first-ever Commercial Manager

Widnes Football Club have moved to strengthen their off field operational team with the appointment of a new Commercial Manager.

Jason Skarratts has been appointed as the Club's first-ever Commercial Manager having previously been manager at Ford Motors FC in the Cheshire League.

A Sales Manager by trade, Jason proved to be instrumental in sourcing lots of funding for his previous club and he joins brings a depth of local football knowledge and business contacts to his new role.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Ian Ross said: "When I heard that 'Skaz' had left his previous role at Ford Motors FC, I had no hesitation in arranging to meet and convince him how he should be a part of what we're building here at Widnes FC.

"I know that he has always been successful in unearthing funding for his club, and that experience and drive is what we need.

"We are continually trying to build a squad off the field that enables the football club to grow, and Jason will be a massive part of what we're aiming to do here over the coming seasons."

Speaking on his appointment, Jason said: "I'm delighted to have been asked to joint the club as commercial manager by Ian.

"As a Widnes lad, it's been great seeing and watching the club grow from the West Cheshire League to where it is today.

"Having been involved in local football for the past 10 seasons, I have come to realise how much of a brilliant opportunity this is for me and moving from the dugout as a manager to a role upstairs is exactly what I want to do.

"I will be making contact and building relationships with the current sponsors to build on what's already in place, spreading the word around the local area that we are the only semi-professional club in the town to attract more businesses to the club.

"A big part of my role will be getting more people through the gate. I want to make it a more family-orientated experience for many that they will enjoy for a fraction of the price is costs to watch a Premier League game, with no less drama as we have seen of late.

"I have seen the plans the club has for the immediate future and it's a very exciting time to be part of Widnes Football Club."
